PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a method capable of updating a relational type data base for updating data condensed into one variable length data as plural items in a method for updating an RDB. ;SOLUTION: A method 12 for editing a column not to be condensed sets the change value of a column not to be condensed among update values obtained by a change value inputting means 11 in a part 15 for storing a column not to be condensed, and a means 13 for editing a column to be condensed condenses the update value of a column to be condensed among the update values obtained by the change value inputting means as a pair with the identifier (attribute) of the column, and sets it in a part for storing a column to be condensed as the update value of one variable length item, and a change value updating means 14 updates an RDB 7 corresponding to the change values of the part for storing the column not to be condensed and the part for storing the column to be condensed.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2001,JPO
