PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a perform using a perform binder which does not react with fused magnesium in the method for producing a perform used for a magnesium metal base composite material. ;SOLUTION: A reinforcing material and magnesium fluoride are mixed into an aq.soln. of magnesium chloride to form slurry, this slurry is poured into a mold, and it is held till the slurry is solidifed in the mold, by which a green perform (perform before sintering) is formed, the green perform is dried to remove water, and the green perform is sintered at about 1,100°C, by which the perform in the final form contg. sintered magnesium fluoride as a binder is formed.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2001,JPO
