PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a foodhold for a manhole being firmly attached to the manhole, being low-cost and excellent in corrosion resistance, increasing strong adhesion to concrete to prevent loosening of screws while enhancing watertightness against external water pressure, keeping feet from slip, having an easy-to-grip tread portion, and being safely usable over a long period.;SOLUTION: This foothold 1 for manholes comprises the tread portion 6, side portions 5 located on both sides thereof, and leg portions 4 embedded in the manhole wall, with the tread portion, the side portions and the leg portions all formed of a core 7 and a synthetic resin 8 covering it. The core is formed of a rod with a relatively small diameter and a thread portion 15 is molded integrally with a cover of synthetic resin at the end of the leg portion at each end of the core. A nut 18 made from synthetic resin is threadably engaged with each thread portion and a plurality of ring- shaped grooves 19 are formed on the outer periphery of each nut. Watertight packing 16 fitted over the outer periphery of the cover of synthetic resin on each leg portion is fastened to each leg portion by the nut. An antislip portion 11 is formed at the corner between the tread portion and each side portion, and a reflecting lens 12 is disposed in the tread portion inside each antislip portion. The grip portion 10 is regulated by both lenses.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2001,JPO
