The waveguide 61 is formed using PMMA, for example. These functional fibers are extended in their longitudinal directions and the functional fibers expanded and contracted in such a way are folded back in their centers to overlap each other and are pressure bonded. In order to hold satisfactorily this pressure bonding, it is preferable that the surfaces of the functional fibers be coated with a pressure bonding abutting agent.
