PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To conduct proper error re-transmission processing, in response to a both-side recording function of a receiver. SOLUTION: In the case of transmission, when a both side original read selection button 26 designates both-side transmission, a facsimile communication procedure revises a re-transmission start position of an image of an original, in the case of re-transmission due to an error during both-side alternate transmission processing on the basis of presence of a reception function of a both-side image of a receiver. In the case that the receiver has a reception function of the both-side image, re-transmission is started from an image on the front side of a page which caused communication error for the re-transmission, due to a communication error during the both-side alternate transmission processing. When the receiver has no receiving function of the both-side image, the re- transmission is started from an image of the front side or the rear side which caused the communication error in the case of re-transmission, due to a communication error during the both-side alternate transmission processing.
