PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a catch metal which has a shape to allow retaining without use of any energizing member such as easily breakable spring while being easy to miniaturize and an engaging structure to facilitate the linking or releasing operation while being prevented from disengagement in the normal application. ;SOLUTION: In a pair of catch metal pieces with the shape thereof different from each other, a magnet is built into each thereof and one of the catch metal piece is provided with a fitting frame 3 to be fitted vertically to the direction of a chain whereas the surfaces of the magnets are arrayed to face in the same direction. The other catch metal piece is given a shape to let it be fitted into the mating metal while the surface of the magnet thereof is so arrayed to have a pole that allows it to be attracted in the same direction. A catch metal for a chain-like jewelry thus obtained has mechanisms 6 and 7 to get both the metal pieces fitted into each other for linking a chain.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1997,JPO
