PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To manufacture an optical data recording medium showing good recording regeneration characteristics (especially, reduction of jitter) at a lower cost.;SOLUTION: In a method for manufacturing the optical data recording medium (represented by DVD-R) including a process for applying and forming a coloring matter recording layer capable of recording data by the irradiation with laser beam on a transparent disc-like substrate having a pre-group with a track pitch of 0.2-1.0 μm formed on the surface thereof, the coloring matter recording layer is formed on the substrate by coating the substrate with a coating solution which is prepared by dissolving oxonol or cyanine coloring matter represented by a specific general formula in a solvent containing hydroxycarboxylic acid ester (especially, lactic acid ester) and drying the coated substrate.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2001,JPO
