PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a culturing technology for after-ripening a pear on its tree to make its fruit edible immediately after its harvest. ;SOLUTION: This method for after-ripening is to spray a solution of 4590 ppm synthetic auxine agent, 2, 4-DP over whole tree mainly on fruits of a pear. On softening of the pear, the generation of a plant hormonal substance, ethylene, becomes high and therefore by increasing the internally secreted ethylene concentration artificially, it is possible to accelerate the softening. In the case of treating the fruits after 140 days from the full bloom with a synthetic auxine agent, 2, 4-dichlorophenoxypropionic acid (2, 4-DP), the internally secreted ethylene concentration of the fruits gradually increases, and the softening of the fruits on the tree progresses and reaches at an edible state on the tree in approximately 50 days after the treatment.
