PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a method/device for predicting which candidate of a word or concept in fashion comes true in the case of preparing the candidates of words or concepts in fashion and for numerically clarifying what kind of social background can make the word in fashion come true. SOLUTION: A distance between a word dictionary and the candidate of a word in fashion is quantized by a natural language processing technique such as a vector space method. Especially as the feature of this invention, the higher order concept of an index word in a dictionary is stored and what is the higher order concept of the index word close to the candidate of the word or concept in fashion is investigated. Thus, a social background for forming the word or concept in fashion can be clarified. Furthermore, not only the higher order concept is investigated but its ratio, correlation coefficient and annual change can be utilized for predicting the fashion.
