PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a safe dog food for the prophylaxis and therapy of infectious diseases peculiar to dogs without relying on an antibiotic or a synthetic antimicrobial agent and resultantly without a fear for causing the appearance of resistant bacteria by the misuse of medicines and further obtain a pet food capable of carrying out the prophylaxis of opportunistic dog infectious diseases or mitigating symptoms even when the pet is affected with the diseases. SOLUTION: This safe dog food is capable of healing dog diseases affected with the infectious diseases without using the antibiotic or the synthetic antimicrobial agent by adding a material treated with a microbial cell of a bifidus bacterium, a lactic acid bacterium or a yeast to a dog food and making a dog live on the material. The therapy and prophylaxis of opportunistic dog infectious diseases can be carried out by making the dog live on the dog food.
