PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To flexibly control access to a data storage device. ;SOLUTION: An application 6 on a client 2 is equipped with a certificate data generating device 11, a command generating device 7, and a command issuing device 8. Commands and certificate data from the application 6 are sent to a server 1; and a command managing device 4 on the server 1 receives them and a certificate data verification device 10 verifies the access qualification of the user of the application 6 according to the certificate data and enables a data storage device 5 to be accessed according to the commands on condition that the verification is successful. The data storage device 5 is used instead of a generally used hard disk drive and a phase shift type optical storage medium or phase separation type optical storage medium is loaded to perform direct- read-after-write type recording.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2001,JPO
