PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a poly(p-dioxanone) excellent in hydrolytic resistance, monofilament of the polymer obtained by the above method and a method for producing the above monofilament.;SOLUTION: This method for producing poly(p-dioxanone) comprises carrying out ring-opening polymerization in the presence of a catalyst and an initiator and is characterized by adding 0.002 to 0.005 mol% stannous dioctanoate, which yields white crystals at 0°C, and 0.01 to 0.1 mol% initiator to p-dioxanone, initiating ring-opening polymerization of the p-dioxanone with stirring at 85 to 105°C, stopping the stirring at the time when the load of stirring has increased by 10 to 60% based on the initial load and lowering the polymerization temperature to 65 to 85°C to conduct solid-phase polymerization.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2001,JPO
