PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make local chromium plating possible by electroplating.;SOLUTION: An electrode material 2 is arranged at a position opposed to a face 4 to be plated and close to the face, an electrolyte admixed with 4.0-8.0 g/1 sodium silicofluoride is supplied between the face 4 and material 2, then chromium is etched with an article 1 to be plated as a positive electrode and the material 2 as a negative electrode to roughen the face 4 when the article 1 is used as the positive electrode and hence to facilitate plating in the succeeding stage, the positive electrode and negative electrode are inverted in polarity, chromium plating is applied, and a chromium plating layer is formed when the article 1 is used as the negative electrode.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2001,JPO
