PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To measure the distribution of cross-sectional concentration in a pipe, etc., in real time without disturbing the flow of a fluid in a pipe.;SOLUTION: This device for measuring the distribution of cross-sectional concentration in a pipe is provided with a large number of microwave transmitting/receiving antennas 11-18 fixed and arranged at the circumference of a pipe P in such a way as to surround the cross section A of the pipe P to be measured, a transmitting/ receiving antenna selecting switch 19, a microwave transmitting circuit 20, a microwave receiving circuit 21, a phase difference measuring circuit 22, and a microcomputer 23. The propagation phase delay of microwaves propagated in a propagation path between a pair of the transmitting receiving antennas is measured, and the propagation phase delay is sequentially measured on propagation paths which intersect each other. The cross section of the pipe P is virtually divided into a large number to form areas. Then through the use of the propagation path lengths in the areas of a plurality of propagation paths which intersect the areas and the propagation phase delays each measured correspondingly to the propagation paths, the dielectric constant of each area is obtained, and concentration is obtained from the dielectric constants to obtain concentration distribution.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2001,JPO
