The invention relates to a process for the preparation of drug particle suspensions for application by inhalation, offering particles of optimized size and distribution, dispersed evenly in the vehicle. The process, which is also suitable for the preparation of sterile suspensions, includes the formulation homogenization step and micronization of the formulation using a turbo emulsifier provided with a high power turbine, optionally followed by a treatment in a high pressure homogenizer. Yet another aspect of the invention is directed to a process for the preparation of sterilized and sterile beclomethasone dipropionate by means of gamma irradiation.
