New paroxetine hydrochloride anhydrate free of propan-2-ol - useful for treating medical disorders e.g. alcoholism, anxiety, depression, anorexia, obesity and pre-menstrual syndrome

New paroxetine hydrochloride anhydrate (I) is substantially free of bound propan-2-ol (II) or bound organic solvent, provided that it is other than form Z. - Also claimed are (A) paroxetine hydrochloride solvates (III) other than the (II)-solvates. (B) (I) are substantially free of bound (II) in pure form. - (I) is crystalline and free of bound pyridine (Form A). The solvate is selected from alcohols (other than (II)), organic acids, organic bases, nitriles, ketones, ethers or opt. chlorinated hydrocarbons and are esp. propan-1-ol, acetic acid, pyridine, acetonitrile, acetone, THF, CHCl3 or toluene.
