A sliding member, wherein a protruded part extending in a direction crossing a sliding direction is provided on at least one of the sliding surfaces of sliding members slid with each other, and fine dimples are provided in the surfaces of the protruded part, whereby lubricating oil is retained in the dimples and, in a running-in, the lubricating oil becomes easier to be withdrawn from an inlet part formed by the dimples.
