SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR COLLECTING, STORING, AND ANALYZING DATABASE STATISTICS

A system and method for collecting, storing, retrieving and analyzing databasestatistical information. A collection agent on a database server interrogatesthe database on a defined interval to determine the database state, and toderive statistics about database performance, structures, and usage. Thisstatistical information is stored within a collection database as historicaldata. Periodically, the historical data is unloaded from the collectiondatabase, transferred via a Transfer Protocol to a data warehouse server, andloaded into said server. Summarization of the data, and Trends-based analysis,are performed against the data with results stored in the data warehouse aspersistent storage. Periodically, an application server interrogates the datawarehouse for the database being analyzed, and produces a series of reportswhich show database trends, reliability, and performance information ingraphical, textual, and tabular formats.
