A hand dryer and a method of disinfecting and deodorising the dryer and air emitted from it

A method of disinfecting and/or deodorising and/or imparting a fragrance to a hand dryer (10) to a stream of air emitted from the hand dryer (10) or to both is described. The method comprises dispensing, substantially continuously, vapourised disinfectant and/or deodorant and/or fragrance into or in close proximity to the dryer (10) so that an amount of the deodorant and/or disinfectant and/or fragrance circulates in an area around and within the dryer (10) and is entrained in the stream of air emitted from the dryer (10). A hand dryer (10) comprising a housing and a liquid or solid deodorant and/or disinfectant and/or fragrance-impregnated carrier (19, 21, 26, 62, 64) positioned in or on the housing is also described.
