Culture medium to detect Streptococcus mutans

A culture medium (A) for the detection of Streptococcus mutans (SM) in saliva and/or plaque contains agar (AG) and at least one additional sugar (AS), at a weight ratio of AG to AS of 1: 0.6-12 (preferably 1: 3.89-4.25 or 1: 5.1-10). Also claimed is an analysis set (1) including at least one inert carrier (3a), coated on one side with (A) and on the other side with another culture medium.
