AUTOMATIC CAMERA HAVING SELF-DIAGNOSING FUNCTION AND SELF-DIAGNOSING METHOD FOR AUTOMATIC CAMERA

PURPOSE: An automatic camera and self-diagnosing method is provided to automatically checking whether the camera operates normally upon initial operation of the camera. CONSTITUTION: An automatic camera comprises a lens housing conveying unit(10) for conveying the lens housing including a lens cap and a pick-up lens; a film sensing unit(15) for checking the presence of film; a photo-metering unit(20); a distance measuring unit(30); a release switch(40); a film conveying unit(70); a film convey sensing unit(75) for sensing the film conveying state; a mode control unit(50) for controlling the pick-up mode; a strobo unit(60) for performing light emission under a low illuminance pick-up condition; a self-diagnosing switch(80) for outputting a self-diagnosing start signal; a control unit(90) for checking the presence of film by checking the film sensing unit upon power supply from a power supply unit(5); and a display unit(100) for outputting an operation message in accordance with user operation, and the corresponding error message upon detection of erroneous operation. The control unit checks whether the film conveying unit and the lens housing conveying unit are in normal operation and outputs a control signal indicative of the diagnosis result, if the film is present. The control unit checks the operation of the lens cap, release switch, strobo unit, and the lens housing driving unit and outputting a control signal indicative of the diagnosis result, if the film is not present.
