PURPOSE: A method of controlling dynamic wave path in a WDM(Wavelength Division Multiplexing) network structure is provided to realize a quick setting and releasing of wave path. CONSTITUTION: Whenever setting and releasing the wave path, the set data of the wave switch and the data of wave band usage status of each optical fiber are collected and stored in the internal data structure. It is determined if there is wave path generating/releasing request. If there is the release request, the wave band occupied by the one to be request is converted into unoccupied state. After the status data are corrected, the second step is repeated. If there is the setting request, the available path between the two nodes requiring the wave path, the path and wave group requesting the minimal switch setting variation among wave groups are selected. According to the path and wave group, the wave switch in each optical divider coupler device is controlled to select the wave path according to the request. In order to match the current wave switch(123/1-123/4) setting status and the wave band usage status in the network with the contents of the internal data structure, the contents of the internal data structure are corrected.
