摘要

PURPOSE: A three dimensional electronic nautical chart displaying method is provided to display water depth and topography of the ocean floor by variation of colours, and to display a real time ocean floor topography by using a three dimensional model so that it enables a general user to easily understand the nautical chart. CONSTITUTION: The method comprises steps of obtaining raw data from an electronic nautical chart, various kinds of sensors or a paper nautical chart(102), dividing a set area in a grid structure(104), extracting nodes by evaluating the grids and the nodes for obtaining nodes used for a surface function(106), allocating the raw data to each grid and node for comparing a water depth at the node, obtained by the surface function, with a real depth(108), obtaining the surface function by using a least square method(110), calculating the water depth at a corresponding node by using the surface function(112), calculating a difference between the calculated water depth and the real water depth(114), determining if the difference is within an allowable range(116), and storing the surface function as a three dimensional model in the case that the difference is within an allowable range(118).
