The present invention relates to a system and method for generating spread spectrum code position modulated waveforms, and to a wireless local area network (LAN) using the system or method. The system is a spread spectrum encoder that (1) receives and encodes a portion of an information signal with multiple chips having a predetermined length to produce a sequence stream, each sequence having a predetermined length. And (2) a transmitter for periodically transmitting each sequence at a time interval different from the predetermined length, wherein the data rate of transmission of the information signal is thereby increased.
