FIELD: oil and gas industry. SUBSTANCE: process intended for detection of ancient water and oil contacts includes drilling of hole, extraction of core material, preparation of specimen from it, X-ray and structural investigation of specimen and determination of dimensions of blocks of coherent scattering. It is considered that change of dimensions of blocks of coherent scattering from 50 to 80 nm corresponds to subzone of cementation of ancient water and oil contacts and change of dimensions of blocks of coherent scattering from 30 to 50 nm corresponds to subzone of leak of ancient water and oil contacts of productive terrigenous stratum lying directly under subzone of cementation, contacting with it and jointly interpreted as ancient water and oil contact. EFFECT: increased authenticity, timeliness and precision of detection of position of ancient water and oil contacts in productive terrigenous strata. 2 dwg
