Casting device operating according to the Teapot Principle comprises a refractory-lined boiler (1), a pressure-tight lid (2), an inlet funnel (3) and an outlet funnel (4) opens out into a casting basin (5). The basin has an outlet (9) that can be closed using a stopper. The boiler is equipped with a gutter (11) into which the outlet funnel feeds. An Independent claim is also included for a process for operating a casting device comprising pressing a melt into the basin at a maximum super pressure of 0.3 atmospheres.
