Evaluation of scanned signals from a dynamic system, especially for predicting epileptic fits from brain scans, comprises determining the structural dimensionality of the system dynamics
Processing at least one output signal from a dynamic system comprises selecting a scanning window comprising N successive scans, assigning a predetermined number n of the N scanned values to an evaluation vector z, shifting the scanning window in time and performing a predetermined action when the structural dimensionality of the system dynamics exceeds a predetermined threshold value beta . Method for processing at least one output signal from a dynamic system comprises: (a) selecting a scanning window comprising N successive scans; (b) assigning a predetermined number n of the N scanned values to an evaluation vector z; (c) determining the structural dimensionality of the system dynamics from the evaluation vector; (d) shifting the scanning window in time and repeating steps (a)-(c); and (e) performing a predetermined action when the structural dimensionality of the system dynamics exceeds a predetermined threshold value beta . An Independent claim is also included for an apparatus comprising: (i) a recording device for scanning at least one electrical output signal from a system; (ii) an output device for issuing a warning message; and (iii) a processing device that is capable of recognizing a change in the structural dimensionality of the system's dynamics on the basis of the output signal and is connected to the output device so as to issue a warning message when there is at least one change in structural dimensionality.
