The glass melt is stirred-up by bubbler-gas between the start of the underflow outlet (14) and the extraction region (17). In this way, bottom glass is mixed-in with the remainder of the melt. Where there is at least one bubbler (23) in the riser (16), steam is used exclusively as the bubbler glass.
