Horizontal and vertical setting device for theodolite or tachymeter telescope uses precision horizontal and vertical setting drive lying in different planes and controlled by coaxial setting shafts
The setting device has a horizontal setting system (1), with a precision setting drive for rotation of the theodolite or tachymeter telescope (4) about a vertical support axis and a vertical setting system (2), with a second precision setting drive for movement of the telescope about a horizontal pivot axis. Each setting drive has a friction coupling between a worm shaft and a worm wheel and a friction coupling between the worm wheel and the controlled component, the setting drives positioned in different planes and operated by coaxial setting shafts (6,7), provided with respective setting knobs (8,9). One of the setting drives lies in the same plane as the setting shaft, the other setting drive coupled to its setting shaft via a belt drive.
