Recovery of digital auxiliary information from a television signal involves high circuit engineering costs and for the purpose of reducing expenditure on these circuits, the sync signals (Hsync, Vsync) for the line and image synchronization are separated from the FBAS-signal with the auxiliary information, and the reference signal source is synchronized by means of these separated sync signals for providing a line image synchronized start reference sequence for the received signal.
