Remote-reading, transmission and processing of data from consumer units supplied with electric current, gas, water or heat by transmitting data via satellite to data collection point

Data read out using an automatic meter with a read-out unit at the mains connection, are transmitted to at lest one communications satellite via a satellite modem. The satellite transmits the information and messages to a ground station where the data are collected and output and processed e.g. using a personal computer. The connection between the satellite and the ground station is a bidirectional satellite link. An Independent claim is included for a measuring and communication device for performing the method.
