A photograph (2) with two side edges is fed into an applicator. Two tape applicators (11) apply strips (3) of double-sided adhesive tape near the side edges on the rear side of the photograph. The adhesive tape is covered on one side with a sealing film that can be peeled from the adhesive tape. Crosscut devices (14) cut the strips from spare rolls (VR) into lengths, so that they stretch across the total side edges. The photograph is then ejected from the applicator.
