Procedure has the following steps: movement of the printer write head to pre-determined positions for printing of pixels of fixer and ink in adjacent positions; movement of an optical sensor to the pixel positions; printing of a pre-set test pattern in two positions that have different reflection behavior which can be detected by the sensor; determination of the difference between the two for alignment. An Independent claim is made for a test pattern for alignment of an inkjet head using transparent fixer or similar.
