The seat sliding mechanism consists of a lower rail (3), in a light metallic alloy, consisting of a base section (9), supporting rollers (13) and a pair of side walls (10), which extend upwards. The internal face of the side walls forms a convex section with an inward projecting part (12) at the upper end. The steel upper rail (4) consists of a horizontal part (16) at the bottom and with the edges turned to extend upwards to form the upper section. The outer turned edges (15) of the lower part are in elastic contact with the convex section of the lower rail.
