The fuel feed fault detection method for a motor vehicle engine is for a fuel feed with pumps (4,5) having inlets below the fuel tank (1) level and outlets feeding the engine. The method involves directly or indirectly measuring the current flow intensity in the pumps using a sensor (14). The current flows are compared to each other and a diagnostic signal (19) is produced. Each pump can have a detector (15,17) to measure the current. The current intensity measurement can be via a shunt. An Independent claim is included for a detection circuit using the method.
