Concentrated organic waste is treated in an anaerobic bioreactor with immobilized cells and a separator. Treatment includes maintaining a high biomass concentration in the bioreactor, membrane filtration of the bioreactor effluent and recycling of the retentate from the filter to the bioreactor. An Independent claim is included for a biological treatment equipment for performing the above includes the bioreactor with immobilised cells and a membrane filter.
