The cap, made from plastic, consists of a body (1) with two outlets (3) and radial slits (5a), a push-button (2) with holes (5), and a valve plate (8) with a seal (6) covering the outlets. The plate is connected to the push-button by a stem (10) surrounded by a spring (7). When a bottle is being crushed to compact it the push-button is pressed to let out the air through the outlets, holes and slits. A variant of the design has a single outlet with a plate and seal pressed over it by a spring so that the plate lifts to release the air when the bottle is compressed.
