Midodrine hydrochloride, ±1-(2′,5′-dimethoxyphenyl)-2-glycineamido-ethanol-(1)-HCl, is prepared from a novel intermediate, 1-(2′,5′-dimethoxyphenyl)-2-azidoethanone.
