PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an ink (for ink jet) capable of further reducing scorched deposits adhered to the surface of a heater for discharging the ink from a recording head by applying a thermal energy to the ink in the recording head and provide a method for reducing scorched deposits on the recording head and a method for ink jet recording and a recording method and apparatus capable of attaining a high quality printing and making the recording head have a long life.;SOLUTION: This ink contains (a) a colorant, (b) a liquid medium, (c) at least one species selected from a polyphosphoric acid, a dicarboxylic acid, a polyaminocarboxylic acid, aldonic acid, a hydroxycarboxylic acid, a polyol phosphate and a salt thereof and (d) an acid having an amino group and/or its salt. This ink jet ink uses the aforesaid ink. A method for reducing scorched deposits to the surface of a heater of the recording head, a method for ink jet recording, a recording apparatus, a recording unit and a method for making the recording head to have a long life are also provided in this invention.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2002,JPO
