PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a composition capable of accurately assaying POD-like active substances, comprising a specific compound capable of removing the effects of reducing matter and/or oxidative matter as inhibitor in redox process, a color developer and buffering agent. ;SOLUTION: This composition capable of accurately assaying various POD- like active substances in the clinical area, comprises (A) a compound of formula I, formula II, etc., bearing such group(s) as N-O (nitrosyl group), S-O (sulfinyl group), SO₂ (sulfonyl group), N-SO₃, S-SO₃, X₁ (X₁ is H, amino, acetamino, acetyl, etc.), Z-X₁ [Z is C_nH_2n ((n) is 1-30), etc.] or R₁ to R₄ (R₁ to R₄ are each H, a halogen, carbonyl, etc.) in the five- or sixmembered structure, having ability to remove the effects of reducing matter (e.g. ascorbic acid) and/or oxidative matter as inhibitor in redox process, (B) a color developer, and (C) a buffering agent.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1998,JPO
