DYNAMIC TRACK REPLACEMENT PROCESSOR AND DYNAMIC TRACK REPLACEMENT PROCESSING METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To automatically execute the replacing of a track by executing hardware/software retrying.;SOLUTION: A central processing unit 1 is provided with an error log information storage unit 3, an error log analyzing unit 4 analyzing the possibility of the existence of errors by referring to the error log information and a track replacement processing unit 5. A magnetic disk device 2 is provided with a replacement original track area 6 and a replacement target track area 7. A jndgement reference with which the unit 4 judges the possibility of the existence of errors is the detection of any one out of that errors of two times or more are detected on the same track, that hardware/software retrying of two times or more are detected and that errors are detected in plural records on the same track. The track replacement processing unit 5 writes data of a corresponding replacement original track area part 6' in a replacement target area part 7' based on an error existing position signal to be outputted from the unit 4.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2001,JPO
