METHOD OF RESTRICTING LANDSLIDE ACTIVITY BY FORMING ARTIFICIAL SHEAR SURFACE IN LUMP OF LANDSLIDE EARTH

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent ground deformation at an upper portion of a lump of earth in landslide which cannot be prevented by the passive countermeasures such as restraint pile works or ground anchor works which are conventionally used as landslide countermeasures, instead the new method described here is capable of restraining the landslide by utilizing not a deteriorated structure but the ground strength originally possessed by a lamp of earth in landslide.;SOLUTION: This method is capable of restraining the landslide activity by forming an artificial shear section in a lump of earth in landslide thereby taking out the strength originally possessed by the lump of earth in landslide and improving a mean slip surface strength. In this method, the mean slip surface strength can be improved over the whole of the lump of earth in landslide, therefore, even the ground deformation on the top portion of the lump of earth in landslide can be restrained, which is conventionally not possible. Also, by using this method, the stability of landslide can be secured by the shear strength of the shear section artificially formed in the lump of earth in landslide, and thus the strength of the lump of earth itself can be utilized without relying upon a structure, so that no deterioration occurs and thus permanent countermeasures can be retained.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2002,JPO
