PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a satellite mobile communication system which allows a mobile station to locate its own position without using the delay time of the propagation waves between an orbiting satellite and the mobile station.;SOLUTION: The satellite mobile communication system which communications by establishing a radio communication channel between a mobile station and a base station via an orbiting satellite comprises an orbiting satellite which transmits beam cell identifying information for identifying waves of a plurality of signals issued by its own system; a mobile station which receive waves issued by the orbiting satellite to acquire a relative position of the mobile station which respect to the orbiting satellite based on the Doppler frequency measured from the received waves and beam cell identifying information issued from the orbiting satellite.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2002,JPO
