PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily convert an electronic document in a composition language to an XML form. SOLUTION: Source data in the composition language are displayed on a conversion source screen 144 and while watching a tag thereof, a conversion definition sentence is described on a conversion definition screen 142. The conversion definition sentence is described while using the XML form composed of regular expression and structured expression forms. When a conversion execute key 142b is selected, the source data are converted into the document of XML described in the conversion definition sentence and a converted document with tag is displayed on a converted result screen 146. When further displaying text data according to tag information similarly to a printing state concerning the converted document with tag, by designating a right frame display key 140b, these data are displayed on a preview screen 141. When the document without tag of this preview screen 141 or document with tag of the converted result screen 146 is not a desired form, by directly correcting the conversion definition sentence displayed on the conversion definition screen 142, the conversion definition sentence can be easily changed.
