The auxiliary piece is for tensioning an alignment wire in an alignment direction between a first alignment component with a reference surface parallel to the alignment direction and a second alignment piece. It comprises a U-shaped stirrup and a clamp screw (3). The stirrup comprises two parallel legs (4,5) and a body (6) which joins them. The clamp screw, at its outer end between the legs, has a press block (8) and at the opposite outer end has a wing grip part (9). The wire end (7) works in conjunction with a nut (10) firmly accommodated in an aperture in one stirrup leg (4). In the transition area between the body and the second stirrup leg are grooves with outer ends facing the body. These outer ends are both at a distance (a) from the inside (15) of the body.
