The system for domestic and commercial use of rainwater comprises at least one storage installation (1), a conduit (2) for feeding rainwater under the influence of the force of gravity to the storage installation and a rise pipe (10) to which at least one water user is connected. Devices are provided (6-8) to move rainwater from the storage installation into the rise pipe. The storage installation incorporates a closed storage chamber (6) filled with air, in which the pressure is equal to the sum of atmospheric pressure and that caused by a water column in the conduit above the level of the rainwater storage installation. The storage installation has at least one air chamber (8), which via an air conduit (7) is connected with a reservoir (16) in the storage installation.
