The device is for the decorative illumination of openable spaces and comprises a framework with a predetermined decorative form. Devices for conducting light are fitted in or along parts of the framework and have light sources connected to them. Also connected to them are light radiation components. Devices (25) are provided for fixture of the framework with the light sources to a bottom of at least one facade (29) of the openable spacae. The light conducting devices are of glass fiber, the light radiation components are prismatic and the framework is of metal. The framework is an overspan construction for fixture between two facades and is provided with fixtures for suspension on a cable (17) between two facades.
