The aim of the invention is to facilitate buying goods in a warehouse. In order to achieve this, a method is used to operate a warehouse comprising a central goods distribution system, whereby a customer identifier is assigned to a customer and the identified customer selects a good by actuating a decentralised allocation unit. A goods identifier associated with the selected good is allocated to the customer identifier pertaining to the customer via allocating means. The customer identifier and the associated goods identifier are then transmitted to a warehouse in such a way that the good selected by the customer can be made available at a central goods distribution point.
