The use of 2-phenyl-3-benzoylbenzothiophenes of formula (I) and their salts to inhibit the symptoms of premenstrual syndrome (PMS) or late luteal phase dysphoric disorder (LLPDD) is new. R1, R3 = H, Me, C(O)(1-6C)alkyl or CO-Ar; Ar = opt. substd. phenyl; R2 = pyrrolidine, hexamethyleneimino or piperidino.
