This method is for example suitable for the detection of parvovirus DNA in plasma or serum, wherein the sensitivity of the PCR can be set so that the parvovirus DNA is detected only in samples whose DNA content is greater than 10 ⁶ to 10 ⁷ genome equivalents / ml.
